I’m okay with this. Sure, no more V8, and that’s sad. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Holden will bring the Camaro to Australia, perhaps as a new Monaro (especially considering Ford Australia have the Mustang now, and especially especially that even though it’s not confirmed, basically everyone knows that the Mustang will probably be Ford’s Supercars replacement for the Falcon), and that would most definitely continue the Australian V8 tradition.
Sad that there’s no more utes though. But who knows, maybe somebody mental will create a ute conversion. Maybe even Holden themselves, although probably not.

I think you’ve got something there, maybe this will be one of the lower tier HSVs.
I strongly believe that Buick/GM/Holden has something up their sleeve, dealing with the Cadillac TTV6...like maybe a new Regal GN or HSV GTS featuring it. We’ll see though.

I’ve never even seen a Falcon or Commodore in person, and I’m sad about the death of them. Australia had one of the most interesting car markets, and now it’s just gonna be kind of different.

Australia has the knowledge and the experience to make utes so even if Holden don’t make them. Former Holden engineers will start companies to convert them.
The estate would lend itself well to a ute conversion.

no point doing a conversion if no V8, due to the Colorado being available.
plus there are companies doing V8 conversions for the Colorado here in OZ

Nope. The Buick GS in Oz will be called the Commodore VXR and HSV has no part in it as yet.
HSV are due to provide their marketing announcement in early August with respect to the future Commodore. Expect more out of the V6...there will be no V8.

I’ve always loved cartrucks, like the El Camino, Ranchero, Brat, and Baja. I found out like a week ago about Utes in Australia, and then found out a day later that they’re going away for some reason. Hope, then disappointment.

I don’t think they’d call a Camaro a Monaro. Camaros are steeped in history and can likely sell on their own merit, and putting the Monaro name on something else would piss off a lot of the loyalists - ie. the people who would’ve bought them.
Holden relies on these loyalists. Holden always got by on being more Australian than Ford or Toyota who also made cars here. But all 3 are owned by big overseas parent companies - Holden is no better

so does chevy not sell cars in austraila at all? like would it have to be badged as a holden? also as far as im aware ford only brought the mustang since they started making them RHD from the factory. Chevy doesnt do that with the camaro.

Nope. Holden is the only GM brand sold in Australia currently. If the Camaro comes to Australia, it would most likely be a Holden, unless they suddenly decide to bring Chevrolet over. Rumour has it though that the next Camaro (not the current one) will be produced in RHD, and brought over to Australia.
